Point of Grace church is no stranger to the mission of strengthening marriage. For years, the church has hosted group studies, also called small groups, for married couples where husbands and wives have learned how to address their marital issues.
Lori Hommer, the church counsellor, points out that many people have not learned how to handle conflict. She helps those with relationship problems learn ways to work it out. Her counselling is now being given a boost with the recent addition of a marriage mentoring program. Several church couples have committed to be mentor couples and have completed Marriage Matters mentor training. Hommer is pleased to partner with her fellow church members in strengthening marriages in their church and the surrounding community. She attests that church members have relational skills from their own marriage experiences that make them valuable as mentors.
