After the honeymoon is over and you get back to normal life, it is easy to lose that feeling of passion and excitement in your marriage. Katy Gaffney, recommends a few things in her article Put the Spark Back in Marriage: How to keep the Newlywed Butterflies Alive in your Marriage that will help you hold on to that newlywed feeling. Pamper your spouse. Doing little things, like offering to get them some ice cream or popcorn while you are watching a movie or bringing them coffee in the morning while they are getting ready for work, will make your spouse feel special. Run an errand for them or give them a good foot rub. All these kinds of things let your spouse know that you are in love with them and will work to keep the romance alive. If you need some help with ideas on how to pamper your husband or wife, check out the variety of books at your local bookstore that are filled with thousands of romantic ideas.
Spend quality time together. This could be anything from cuddling together while watching television, sitting on the porch and talking, taking a walk together around the neighborhood, or whatever it is that brings you both together. For maximum effect, do it everyday. Sometimes your have errands that you need to get done when you arrive home, get them done, but don’t neglect quality time with your spouse.
Be passionate every chance you get. When a couple begins to let everyday life affect their marriage, their sex life begins to suffer as well. After awhile, this becomes normal to them and it becomes difficult to ignite the passion again. In order to avoid this, couples should plan for a date night. Plan them as often as you like, once a week, once a month, whatever appeals to you. Do something you both enjoy or try something you’ve never done before. You’ll begin to look forward to these date nights because it adds a little spice to your life. It brings back the giddiness and feelings of when you first started dating, reigniting your spark for each other.
