I did something with my wife, Lee Ann that we haven't done in a long time. I was finishing up a project in the garage, and I knew that Lee Ann had a bad day at work. So, I walked into the living room where she was finishing up a novel. I got down on one knee and asked her if she would go get in the car. Without asking any questions, she said, sure.
We took a quick trip to Dairy Queen and then we went and parked at the local ball field and watch the elementary kids play baseball. We just sat in the car, eating ice cream and talking.
I was surprised at how much I missed getting out of the house and spending time with my wife.
We all need little breaks in our lives that remind us what life is all about. Some call it "connecting." I remember when we were first married how we would spend hours talking to each other. Now, unless we are intentional about it, it never happens. We need to pull ourselves aside with our spouse and spend time with them talking about our dreams and aspirations.
When was the last time you got together alone with your spouse and just took a drive through town?
