Tip of the Week: Get out of your comfort zone.

This past weekend I had an interesting, first time experience. I slept out under the stars.

We were on a family camping trip, which are quite common for us. Lee Ann packed twice as much food than was needed and we had a great time grilling out, fishing and just hanging out. One night my oldest said, "I'm sleeping out under the stars tonight." And then he looked at me as if to say, "Care to join me?" I thought for just a second then impulsively said, "Me too." I was committed. The next few minutes I thought about the reports of a mountain lion cruising the area, the raccoons and the killer mosquitoes, and I started to second guess my decision. I know that a tent doesn't offer much protection, but at least it's something. Then I thought I need to get out of my comfort zone if for no other reason than to strengthen my relationship with my son. So that night I lathered up in bug spray and hoped that it worked like a mountain lion repellent and spent a long night out under the stars. We created a memory.

Here's the principle, sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to strengthen your relationships. That means if you are struggling in your marriage, calling someone that can help. We have a number of mentor couples that are anxious to help you in your marriage. The service is free but it does take getting out of your comfort zone. Call us at 1-877-866-4372 and ask to meet with a mentor couple. You'll be glad you did.
